Receive It

Mercy Chinwo opens with an image of open doors — "the doors are open unto You, whatever You need You will receive" — before the chorus explains what's actually on offer: "it is your inheritance in Christ," a direct echo of Ephesians 1:11's language of being given an inheritance through God's own purpose.

The bridge gets specific about how that inheritance is claimed: "speak the word and call it forth... if You decree You will receive," paired with "call forth those things that are not as though they were" — Romans 4:17's description of God's own creative speech, applied here to the singer's own declarations rather than treated as God's alone. It's a bold borrowing, but the song keeps tying it back to Christ's inheritance rather than letting the claim stand on its own.

Mark 11:24's "believe that you receive" sits underneath the whole structure, turning "receive it" from a single request into the song's repeated, almost liturgical answer to itself.
