Michael W. Smith's arrangement of "Crown Him with Many Crowns" keeps the hymn's three-stanza march toward the throne. The first image is the Lamb seated there, with a heavenly anthem that "drowns all music but its own." The call is immediate: "Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for thee," a line that hails Christ as "matchless King" through all eternity.
The second stanza widens the view to the Trinity, naming Christ as Lord of heaven, "one with the Father known" and one with the Spirit. Praise here is addressed straight to Him, "for Thou has died for me," so adoration and personal gratitude are tied together. The repeated "Adored and magnified" slows the pace before the final turn.
