Calvary's Enough (Live From Passion 2024)
Song Meaning
Passion opens with a direct quote from Paul rather than an original line: "I resolve to know nothing but You crucified." That's an unusually narrow claim for a worship song to make — not everything about God, just this one specific thing, on purpose.
The verses stay tightly focused on the physical scene rather than drifting into abstraction: "scarlet flowing from Your hands and side... as the darkness fell and the temple curtain tore." Each image is a specific, reported detail, not a general description of sacrifice.
The bridge makes the song's actual argument plain: "the world is broken, but all is not lost, because of Jesus and all You have done on Calvary." Paul's declaration of resolving to know nothing except Christ and him crucified gives the opening line its exact source, and the Gospels' report of the temple curtain tearing at the moment of Jesus' death backs up the verse's imagery directly. The repeated confession — "God, I know nothing, but I know this much" — treats uncertainty about everything else as fine, as long as this one thing stays certain.
I resolve to know nothing but You crucified
Somehow in this room right now
It is enough
The weight of the world
Too much for the souls of men
But somehow You hold it all
Upon the cross
Calvary's enough
Calvary's enough
When I know nothing
When I know too much
What I choose to know right now is
Calvary's enough
You resolved to die
Scarlet flowing from Your hands and side
Covenant is sealed and ratified
You knew the cost
As the darkness fell
And the temple curtain tore
The death I deserved You made Yours
Upon the cross
Calvary's enough
Calvary's enough
God, I know nothing
But I know this much
Your blood has spoken
It shouts from the cross
The world is broken
But all is not lost
Because of Jesus and all You have done
On calvary
It's more than enough
God, I know nothing
But I know this much
Oh, calvary is always enough
