Song Meaning

PJ Morton draws a hard line in this song between two things people often treat as the same: religion and God. He's blunt about it — "I don't think I like your religion," he says, before adding "not sayin' you don't have good intentions" — the target isn't sincerity, it's the gap between what someone claims and how they treat people.

His sharpest line lands as an accusation and a diagnosis at once: "you blame your God when it's your own fault... your God has nothing to do with them." Morton's pushing back on borrowed belief too — "you didn't even take the time to find it yourself... you don't even know why you believe what you do" — faith handed down secondhand, never actually examined.
