God Is Near

Rend Collective open "God Is Near" naming a universal experience before answering it — "no one really knows what it is to be alone, since You've never left our side" — treating aloneness as a feeling everyone else claims to know, but one this song refuses to grant.

"Omnipresence means that You're never far away, You're always within reach" turns a theological term into a plain, repeated claim rather than an abstract doctrine, and the chorus keeps its declaration to a single word repeated four times — "Hallelujah God is near, Hallelujah Christ is close" — letting praise stand in for further explanation.

"We've been oceans apart, but You'd part oceans to be with me" borrows the Exodus's own miracle as a measure of nearness rather than distance, and "nothing can keep You away" repeats twice for emphasis. "You're living in me now, You built Your home inside my soul" moves the song from external nearness to internal residence, and the closing bridge pairs two intimate images in a row — "closer than a whisper... closer than a kiss" — ending the song on the most immediate comparisons it has to offer.
