I Want To Know You

Desire is the whole song: "I want to know You, I want to know You myself." The lines are said again and again, with "I want to be close to You" and "I want to be so close, so close to You" added, and the wording stresses knowing God personally, "for myself," not secondhand.

Short interjections of "power," "love" and "evidence" appear along the way, and one line names the goal, "to know Your resurrection," which closely follows Philippians 3:10. Near the end the prayer widens: "Lord, have mercy for everyone who's gone astray, let them see You for themselves," and then "for every heart that has gone cold." The singer asks that others, too, would see God directly.

The lyric closes with a list of references, "Acts 17:27, 1 John 4:8, Colossians 1:9, Ephesians 3:19, Philippians 1:9-11," which point to seeking God, His nature as love, and being filled with knowledge of Him. The plain structure suits a spontaneous worship recording, and a final request, "I want to feel Your touch," sums up the song.
