Song Meaning
VaShawn Mitchell, joined by Anthony Brown and Tasha Cobbs, builds this live recording around a call-and-response declaration rather than a conventional verse structure: "every sickness and every disease, it has to bow at the name of Jesus."
"Fear and depression, it can't worry me, I'm finally free in the name of Jesus" names two specific struggles directly rather than staying vague, repeating the phrase until the choir and congregation are answering together.
The refrain shifts from declaration to surrender: "I spend enough time trying to explain, worrying about things that I cannot change... 'cause the battle is yours, not mine, Lord, you are my warrior." Exodus' description of God as a man of war and the Psalms' language of God as fortress and high tower sit behind that title claim directly.
"Imma stay right here, Imma let You do it, Imma hold my peace and let You fight for me" closes the song on the same posture it built toward throughout — not passivity, but a deliberate decision to stop carrying what was never actually the singer's to carry.
