Feel The Sprirt

A Zulu call opens CeCe Winans' celebration song. "Woza Moya" means "come, Spirit," "Oyingwele" means "holy," and the English line over it is plain: "every time I feel the Spirit moving in my heart, I will pray." The chants return throughout, and a translation note at the end of the lyric spells out each Zulu phrase, ending with "Uyawuzw'umoya," meaning "do you feel the Spirit?"

The verses promise a refuge: "time to escape all of your pain, leave all your worries never to find again, I know a safe place you can hide where only love and peace will abide." That is the sort of shelter described in Psalm 32:7. The second verse says the place is close: "you don't have to travel far, pray without ceasing and it will come where you are," a line that comes straight from 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

The chorus is an invitation to dance: "come on everybody, feel the Spirit, it feels good... lift your head, clap your hands, and feel joy leap for it. It's yours, it's free." Joy in the Holy Spirit is the idea in Romans 14:17, and the bridge's shout of "celebrate!" keeps that mood, much as Galatians 5:22 lists joy among the Spirit's fruit.
