Chris Rice traces the emotional whiplash of a faith that feels vivid one day and distant the next. The opening scene is almost sensory: walking so near to God that the singer imagines catching the scent of angel wings, an unsuspecting heart leaping and racing in a place it never wants to leave. Then the turn comes, and the questions arrive with it — why do the good days end, was yesterday even real, has he wandered too far this time, can God be persuaded to change His mind.
