Power

Chris Tomlin sets three false sources of confidence side by side before naming the real one in "Power" — "some may trust in horses, some may trust in chariots... some trust in their riches, some may trust in all they own... some trust in their wisdom, some may say it's foolishness." Military strength, money, and intellect are each named and each set aside in turn.

"I lift my eyes to the mountains, the mountains above, You are, You are where my help is from, I lift my eyes to the Maker of Heaven and Earth" borrows the Psalmist's own language of looking upward for help, tying the song's confidence to a specific act of attention rather than a passive feeling.

"There is wonder working power, Holy Spirit power, great redeeming power... resurrection power, bondage breaking power, power in the name of Jesus" repeats as a list rather than one broad claim, naming several distinct kinds of power the name is said to carry rather than a single generic strength.
