Your Grace Is Enough

Chris Tomlin opens "Your Grace Is Enough" with language lifted almost directly from Lamentations' declaration that God's faithfulness is great, then widens it into territory that song doesn't cover — God wrestling with the sinner's heart, leading people by still waters, using the weak to lead the strong. That last image runs against the usual order of things, which is part of the point: grace doesn't wait for someone to become strong enough to deserve it. The recurring plea "remember your people, remember your promise" isn't asking God to recall something forgotten so much as invoking a covenant already made, the way psalms often do when circumstances feel uncertain. The chorus itself borrows Paul's own words almost exactly — grace sufficient, enough for whatever the need happens to be — repeated until "enough" stops sounding like a modest claim and starts sounding like the entire argument. By the bridge, "heaven reaching down to us" reframes grace as something that moved first, before there was a request to answer.
