Come to the River

Housefires and Kirby Kaple build this one around a series of invitations drawn from Isaiah 55:1 — "come to the water, all who are thirsty, come and drink... come to the table, all who are hungry, come and feast." The prophet's offer, "come, buy wine and milk without money and without price," gets extended here without needing to add anything new to it.

"Come and feast," "taste and see," and "oh my soul thirsts for You" reach for Psalm 34:8's invitation, "taste and see that Yahweh is good," pairing an Old Testament meal image with a direct personal confession. The repeated title phrase, "come to the river," widens the single image of water into something continuous rather than a one-time drink — a source that keeps flowing rather than a cup that empties.
