Go On And Tell It

Jeremy Camp's arrangement borrows its bones from "Go Tell It on the Mountain" but writes new verses around the old chorus. "While shepherds watched in silence their flocks beneath the night" stays close to the traditional scene, and the shepherds' fear gets named plainly — "the shepherds shook in wonder when high above the earth rang out the angel chorus."

The bridge shifts from narration to command, repeating the instruction rather than the story: "join with the heavens, He is among us, the King is here." That repetition is the whole point of a song built around the word "tell" — it isn't asking for quiet reflection, it's asking for an announcement.

Luke's account gives the song its entire structure: an angel telling shepherds not to be afraid because good news of great joy had come, followed by a multitude of the heavenly host praising God. The song's closing insistence — "go on and tell it, that Jesus Christ is born" — is just the shepherds' own response after Bethlehem, put into a repeatable chorus.
