When You Speak

Jeremy Camp builds this one around a contrast: "it's always the lie that is loudest," while the voice that actually carries power turns out to be quiet enough that it takes leaning in to hear. That's an unusual admission for a worship song to make — that God's voice competes with noise rather than simply overpowering it.

The chorus turns to a specific gospel scene for its center: "I'm found in the sound of 'Peace Be Still,' the wind and the waves bow to Your will" — a direct callback to Jesus calming the storm. The bridge widens the picture into something more intimate, calling it "a holy melody... it's the Father whispering mercy over every need."

That whisper has precedent: Elijah didn't find God in the wind, earthquake, or fire, but in a "still small voice." The psalmist ties the same voice to real power, full of majesty, even at its quietest. Camp's fear doesn't get argued away in this song — it gets drowned out, which is a different kind of resolution than an answer would be.
