I am More than A Conqueror
Song Meaning
Joyous Celebration builds this one around a single declaration, repeated in English and then again in Swahili — "Mimi ni zaidi, zaidi ya Mshindi, Katika Bwana" ("I am more, more than a conqueror, in the Lord"). The claim lifts Romans 8:37 directly: "in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."
The verse Paul is answering lists real hardships just before it — tribulation, distress, persecution, famine — making the "more than conquerors" claim a response to actual difficulty rather than a denial of it. The song's closing lines, "sing Hallelujah for the Yahweh has conquered," echo Romans 8:31's question, "if God is for us, who can be against us?" — victory credited entirely to whose side someone is on, not to anything the singer accomplished.
