Song Meaning
Kurt Carr's choir arrangement of "Holy, Holy, Holy" begins with the classic hymn text: "Lord God Almighty," a morning song rising, the saints "casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea," and "God in three persons, blessed Trinity." The parts are passed around deliberately, with sopranos and altos entering first, then tenors and basses joining until the full choir sings together.
After the hymn verses, the arrangement turns into testimony. A soloist breaks in with "Lord you brought me out, in the time of trouble," and a "Holy... Holy..." response from the choir sits under each line. The story widens to the cross and the empty tomb: "They lied on your son, and they crucified him, / But on the third day, Hallelujah he got up from the grave." The closing run of "Hallelujah" and "We praise your name" turns the worship into thanks for what the soloist has lived through.
