I Am Free (Who The Son Sets Free)

Newsboys build the song as a chain reaction — "through you the blind will see, through you the mute will sing, through you the dead will rise" — before each line resolves into the same two words: "I am free." The structure mirrors Jesus' own healing miracles, stacking them up as evidence before the song claims its personal conclusion.

The title line quotes John 8:36 almost without alteration: "who the Son sets free is free indeed." It's the hinge the whole song turns on — freedom isn't a feeling the singer worked up but a status granted by someone else, which is why the second verse shifts from miracle-language to intimate claims: "through you I'm not afraid," "through you the price is paid."

What keeps it from reading as abstract praise-chorus filler is the specificity of "I am free to run... to dance... to live for you" — freedom cashed out as ordinary movement and devotion, not just a theological statement.
