Magnetic

A morning voice of worry sets the scene: eyes open and "the same voice on the inside" is already "weighing on my soul." Fear, heartache and doubt collide with God's light and try to "steal my hope," and the singer admits, "Some days I break / I lose my way / More doubt than faith." Against that, the chorus keeps returning to one claim: "Your love keeps pulling me back... it's magnetic."

The second verse supplies the reason for the pull. God's goodness is "a fountain flowing so deep," patient and gracious, and it brings the singer back "like a boomerang" even when the heart is "in the wrong place." The bridge swaps the magnet for gravity: just when things feel "outta reach," love and mercy keep drawing closer, and the change is felt rather than argued ("Everything that I used to be is history").

Repetition carries the ending, the pull restated until nothing else is left. Its picture of a God who retrieves the wanderer sits close to Psalm 139:7, Romans 8:38-39, and the patience described in 2 Peter 3:9.
