Doxology
Song Meaning
Four lines of praise carry the whole song: God is the source "from Whom all blessings flow," every creature below is called to answer, the heavenly host above joins in, and the last line names Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The movement runs from earth to heaven and lands on the Trinity, so thanksgiving is aimed at the giver rather than the gifts.
"Amen, amen, amen, amen" seals it, turning the lines into a shared agreement that a gathered room can sing from memory. That brevity suits a closing refrain in worship. Psalm 150:6 ("Let everything that has breath praise the Lord") and James 1:17, where every good gift comes from above, sit behind the wording, and Matthew 28:19 echoes in the Trinitarian ending.
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow
Praise Him, all creatures here below
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
Amen, amen, amen, amen
