Ever Almighty

A declaration of stance opens the song: "here we stand on this foundation, hope as an anchor, faith as our flag, the cross as our courage, Your Word as our way." Passion places that confidence against "wars and rumors of wars," where God remains "sovereign" and "Lord" and "above the confusion Your covenant stands." The assurance is built on a promise, that God has not "for a moment abandoned Your promise to save."

The refrain condenses it to a title: "Our God is ever almighty, ever almighty to save." The second verse switches from defense to building, with "stone upon stone, the house You are building, a people Your own," a church that is "alive" and moves "as one with hearts all aflame." The congregation answers God's steadfastness with its own pledge, "we will not, not for a moment, withhold Your praise."

The bridge confronts fear directly: "fear doesn't get to sit on Your throne," and "You won't share Your glory." Hebrews 6:19 calls hope an anchor for the soul, 1 Peter 2:5 speaks of living stones built into a house, Isaiah 42:8 has God refusing to share His glory, and Zephaniah 3:17 describes the mighty one who saves.
