We Shine

Passion's "We Shine" opens with a claim about identity before it ever gets to instruction: "we shine with the light of God, and when we speak, we speak with words of love... 'cause we're the people of God." The song isn't telling listeners to try harder to shine; it's naming what's already supposedly true about them first.

"We are the redeemed, we are the ones who are free, and we belong to Jesus" leans on the same image Jesus uses in the Sermon on the Mount — calling His followers the light of the world, not something they need to manufacture but something they already are once they belong to Him. "We're livin' in the power that defeated sin" keeps that identity grounded in the resurrection rather than in personal effort.

"We're goin' into all the world, carrying the light of Jesus, and we shine, yeah we shine, in the darkest place we shine" turns the song outward — the point of the light isn't private assurance, it's for wherever it's dark enough to actually matter. The closing "your kingdom is comin'" keeps the song's energy future-facing, celebration built on where things are headed, not just where they already are.
