VaShawn Mitchell keeps "Dreams" deliberately simple, built almost entirely around a single repeated claim rather than a developing story: dreams are possible, achievable, worth holding onto "if you believe." The plainness is the point — this isn't a song working through a complicated argument, it's one making the same declaration enough times that it has a chance to actually land.

"Thought you couldn't but can... thought you failed, you can win" addresses discouragement directly rather than avoiding it, naming the exact thoughts that usually talk someone out of trying again. "You may have messed up, start again" treats failure as a pause rather than a verdict, consistent with a faith that expects grace to outlast mistakes rather than being cancelled by them.

The closing "keep dreaming your dreams, you have inside" leaves the song open-ended on purpose — it never specifies what the dream is, since the encouragement is meant to apply as broadly as belief itself does.
