Deborah Lukalu keeps "Grace" reduced to its barest possible form — a single question asked three times, and a single answer repeated until it becomes the whole song: "where would I be without Your grace?" Nothing about the specific circumstances behind that question is ever explained; the song trusts the question to apply broadly rather than narrating one particular rescue.

"Lord, I'm grateful, only by Your grace" keeps the response equally unadorned, refusing to build the gratitude into a longer testimony or a list of reasons.
