Phil Thompson keeps the structure of this one almost entirely repetitive on purpose — "come and see, oh, come and see, look what the Lord has done for me" — the kind of line built to be said by a crowd, not just a soloist, before it ever develops into anything more complex.
When new content does arrive, it's specific rather than vague: "I'm alive and well, I'm living in victory, I'm a testimony." Testimony, here, isn't a metaphor for feeling grateful — it's treated as a literal category, something meant to be told rather than just felt privately.
The psalmist's own invitation — "come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul" — gives the song's title its exact shape, and Revelation's naming of Christ as "the Alpha and Omega" closes the song on the same confidence the opening line started with.
