Phil Thompson's “Lion of Judah” is a short worship song of praise. The first verse describes finding a source: “I found a well that I'll forever drink, Jesus Christ the King.” The singer says he will “forever worship at His feet” and calls his song “here's my offering.”
The chorus is a string of names and titles. “Jehovah, Lion of Judah, heavenly Father, here is my praise, beautiful Savior, forever You reign.” The next lines bring in the response of those who sing: “With praise and adoration I will sing to Jesus Christ the King, with lifted hands I give You everything.” The close is a prayer for the congregation, “Oh, let our praises rise, oh, God be glorified.” With so few words, the song is easy to repeat in a service, and each pass adds weight to the names it uses.
The Lion of Judah is from Revelation 5:5. The well of living water is John 4:14, and bowing to worship is Psalm 95:6.
